Subject: Midterm Evaluation of your Projects.
When: Please see the Schedule
Requirements:
1. Formal presentation using overhead projector in the class
2. Hardware/Software demonstration in the lab
3. Project Report
How should you prepare for the above:
1. Presentations:
Plan your transparencies for 20 minutes of presentation only. You may
use a few transparencies from your proposal presentation to show
initial proposal, block diagram, time chart etc. Prepare the new
transparencies to demonstrate your achievements in implementing the
project. It should consists of the hardware/software design in detail.
For hardware, block diagrams and component level diagrams are required
to explain its functioning during your presentation. For software details
algorithms and flowcharts are good enough. Do not plan your
transparencies by copying the code.
Please include the followings as part of your transparencies:
- Modification to original plan, if any
- Results/partial results obtained
- Updated Time-chart (compare and explain with original)
- Expected and unexpected observations, if any
- One transparency should contain the following:
- level of difficulties you've faced in implementing the projects
(1 - very difficult, 4 - very easy)
- coordination among team members including availability
(1 - best, 4 - very poor)
- support from the lab
(1 - most appropriate, 4 - least appropriate)
2. Demonstration:
You need to give demos on your progress of the project after the oral
presentation. You will be performing experiments that you have
discussed in the presentation. Show that your hardware and software
works
as explained. Use of GUI to present your software and interface with
hardware is definitely an advantage. The time requirement for
demonstration is unrestricted. We can go through it with patience.
3. Report Writing:
This is a vital aspect of your project too. You may use the following
guidelines for this report with details. Include all code and hardware
details in your report and turn in filed as appendices.
(i) Abstract (150 words)
(ii) Introduction to the project and background research
(iii) Individual achievements as regards to the goal of the project.
Ex. Haris designed/developed hardware/software, tested existing
software, built board game, fabricate hardware etc.
Supply detailed contribution for reporting. One of the team
members should compile the individual reports. Please remember
that these documents will be useful for the final report.
Describe the methodology that you have followed in design and
implementation of your project so far. You may use sub-sections here
to put your points if necessary.
(iv) Any major or minor modifications encountered or expected with respect
to original proposal?
- if yes, elaborate and justify.
(v) Conclusion:
- Any new idea that you inted to implement in your project to improve
its quality?
- List if any technical issue that bothered you to achieve your goal
in implementing the project.
- Whether the team's activity during these two weeks is as per the
time
chart?
- if yes, how?
- if no, reason for lagging.
- Any team problems? (if some member was out of town and the team could
not get stuff to proceed on their work),
(vi) References:
- Give a list of all references that all of you have used to achieve
your goal. The style is:
[1] author name(s), title of work, source name, year of
publications, pages.
[2] website address with path extensions
- Include any new literature (copy) you have received from web or
commercial houses regarding your projects as appendicies.
